NASA captures stunning photo of the entire sky in X-ray
The NICER detector on the International Space Station recorded 22 months of nighttime X-ray data to create this map of the entire sky. NASA/NICER NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope captured this mosaic of the star-forming Cepheus C and Cepheus B regions. NASA This is an artist's rendering of ancient supernovae that bombarded Earth with cosmic energy millions of years ago. NASA Galaxy NGC 4485 collided with its larger galactic neighbor NGC 4490 millions of years ago, leading to the creation of new stars seen in the right side of the image. ESA/Hubble/NASA Astronomers developed a mosaic of the di...

NASA spots explosion of X-rays glowing in the universe
NASA peers deep into the cosmos at the bright, leftover cinders of exploded stars, called pulsars. Now, the space agency has released a map-like image showing loops and arcs of X-ray energy — invisible to the naked eye — radiating from these dense cores of once massive stars. The most radiant spots are the suspected pulsars, repeatedly blasting X-ray energy into space. These trails of energy, or electromagnetic radiation, reveal the powerful sources of these X-rays. "Even with minimal processing, this image reveals the Cygnus Loop, a supernova remnant about 90 light-years across and thought...

NASA’s NICER Shows Entire Sky in X-Rays in Stunning Arc Image
NASA recently shared an image of the entire sky in X-rays recorded by its Neutron star Interior Composition Explorer (NICER), and it is a stunning map of bright sweeping arcs. NICER, an International Space Station payload, is required to track cosmic sources whenever the Space Station orbits our planet every 93 minutes, said a NASA press release. However, when the sun sets and it’s nighttime at the Space Station, the NICER team maintains active detectors while the payload slides between targets, which could happen up to eight times each orbit. With the map, NASA could eventually discover ne...
